Virtual Field Trip: western India
Winter is here -- highs in the 30s F, snow on the trails and a pile of work are keeping me at home. So I was glad to find Rapid Uplift's short virtual tour of the Western Ghat Escarpment at the edge of the Deccan volcanic province near the west coast of India, with photos, aerials and explanations of the geomorphology and geologic history. With a bit more searching I found interesting Wikipedia entries on the Western Ghats and the Deccan Traps, one the largest volcanic features on earth.
