Wishing Happiness to All!


Are you wondering about "my families" in this year's botanical greetings? Nothing aberrant here, it's just that there is no all-encompassing Fern Family. Instead there are many, and the number continues to grow. Is this evolution? No, it's taxonomists.

      Thanks, Beth. When I find fern id tough (can be!) I think about their beauty (even though they're a bit monochromatic :)

    Ah, Hollis...*now* you've done it.

    The ferns thought their vibrant greenness leant contrast to the brown bark and the varying sky; it never occurred to them they might be "monochromatic."

    As retribution you might consider reciting these tidbits Michelle disclosed this evening. She dredged them up from the basement of her mom's upbringing in Goshen, Indiana...
